21st October 2004 7:37 amGetting quite excited now , panic is setting in
All systems are now go ” thunderbirds here we come ” even the Sat phone is working
Still finding jobs to do but really we are fine tuning now , great to be in this position compared with the other boats that are only just arriving , Tim Little ( keep on smiling ) arrived last week , and has had to rebuild both his toilets and his water heater , and there is a guy with a Cat on our pontoon ( Robert ) who is practically rebuilding his boat
We are now getting our provisions together , source of constant debate between Joy and myself , She wants to provision for 21 days I think more like 15 , the only reverse of this is the beer , she is always trying to cut it down
We have settled on 150 cans of beer , but I think this is a little light and I might sneak some more on
Joy has gone for the Dry goods today , she will not let me go with her as she says I disrupt her thinking !!! We will see what she turns up with
our estimate for provisons is 1000 euros but we seem to be exceeding this only time will tell
We had our first ARC party last week on the pontoon so many people turned up we nearly sank the pontoon . it was under water , but luckly still stayed floating

ARC Preparations
8th October 2004 7:37 amWell the departure date is approaching
We are in Las Palmas and have been here since Feb , I thought the boat was ready , how wrong can you be. We have worked almost solid all year and only now are we able to relax.
The Watermaker is installed and working great only thing is we have to go out and sail every 2 days to make water and keep it clean , I’m happy but Joy ????
Sat phone is the last major item to get working still debugging but we seem to be getting there
Intend to update regularly now as the departue approaches ( 21 nov )

Message from Gran Canaria
4th October 2004 7:36 amJust to let you know Graham has now managed to get the communations sorted and as I said before we will forward news to Alan my grandson and he will forward it to you whilst we are sailing over to St Lucia. This is because we are using a satellite phone and need to reduce the calls we make. I have forwarded your E mail address to him and he will be contacting you his E mail address is - Anw5150 at ntlworld.com
Until the ARC starts I shall be sending him short messages to forward so he can get used to doing them so please look out for Email from him and maybe reply.
Graham seems to have cracked the phone now it all seem like Star Wars to me with Imaps and Pop3 to mention a few. Needless to say I shan´t be transmitting. the plan is on the trip the four of us take turns to make up a short message daily which will be sent with the communiations we have to do to the ARC site. So you would get daily bulletins from one of us via Alan from the start of the ARC 21st Nov. you can pick up when you wish.
